Welland & Glen Home Care Limited is committed to achieving “Net Zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2050”.

As a provider of regulated domiciliary care services, we recognise that environmental sustainability is fundamental to delivering safe, high-quality, person-centred care. We are committed to reducing the environmental impact of our operations while continually improving the sustainability of our services.

This Carbon Reduction Plan establishes our baseline approach to measuring greenhouse gas emissions, sets out our carbon reduction objectives, and demonstrates our commitment to continuous environmental improvement throughout our organisation.

Reporting Standard

This Carbon Reduction Plan has been completed in accordance with Procurement Policy Note (PPN) 006 – Taking Account of Carbon Reduction Plans in the Procurement of Major Government Contracts and the associated Technical Standard for the Completion of Carbon Reduction Plans.

Where applicable, greenhouse gas emissions will be measured, reported and verified in accordance with:

* The Greenhouse Gas Protocol Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standard.

* UK Government Environmental Reporting Guidelines.

* UK Government GHG Conversion Factors for Company Reporting.

* Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reporting (SECR) guidance, where applicable.

Baseline Emissions

Baseline Year 2026

This is the first Carbon Reduction Plan produced by Welland & Glen Home Care Limited. Accordingly, 2026 has been adopted as the baseline year from which future carbon reduction performance will be measured.

The organisation is implementing processes to accurately identify, collect and verify greenhouse gas emissions across its operations. Annual reporting will enable meaningful comparison against this baseline and demonstrate continual improvement.

As this is the first Carbon Reduction Plan produced by Welland & Glen Home Care Limited, the organisation is currently establishing its baseline greenhouse gas inventory. Verified emissions data is not yet available. The company has implemented procedures to collect, monitor and report Scope 1, Scope 2 and relevant Scope 3 emissions annually. Future Carbon Reduction Plans will include quantified emissions data together with progress against reduction targets.

Current Emissions Reporting

As this is the organisation’s initial reporting year, current emissions correspond with the baseline year.

* Fuel consumed by company-owned or controlled vehicles.

* Heating fuels used within company premises.

* Other directly controlled fuel consumption.

Scope 2 – Indirect Energy Emissions

* Purchased electricity used within offices.

* Administrative premises.

* Operational facilities.

Scope 3 – Other Indirect Emissions

Where relevant, emissions associated with:

* Business travel.

* Employee commuting.

* Purchased goods and services.

* Waste management.

* Water consumption.

* Fuel and energy-related activities.

* Information technology and telecommunications equipment.

* Home working (where applicable).

* Third-party operational services.

Carbon Reduction Objectives

Welland & Glen Home Care Limited is committed to:

* Achieving “Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050”.

* Establishing accurate annual greenhouse gas reporting from 2026 onwards.

* Working towards reducing operational greenhouse gas emissions by at least 30% by 2035, subject to annual emissions measurement and operational growth.

* Reducing office electricity consumption by 20% by 2030.

* Reducing paper consumption by 75% through digital working practices.

* Improving recycling performance year on year.

* Increasing procurement from environmentally responsible suppliers.

* Embedding sustainability into everyday operational decision-making.

Carbon Reduction Initiatives

To achieve these objectives, the organisation will implement the following measures.

Energy Efficiency

* Install energy-efficient LED lighting where practical.

* Purchase energy-efficient office equipment and appliances.

* Monitor energy consumption and identify opportunities for reduction.

* Ensure lights and electrical equipment are switched off when not in use.

* Review opportunities to procure renewable electricity where feasible.

Digital Working

To reduce resource consumption, the organisation will:

* Use electronic care management systems.

* Maintain digital personnel and operational records.

* Communicate electronically with staff, service users and stakeholders wherever possible.

* Minimise printing.

* Expand secure digital document management.

Sustainable Transport

As travel is an essential element of domiciliary care delivery, the organisation will:

* Optimise staff travel routes.

* Reduce unnecessary business journeys.

* Promote virtual meetings and training where appropriate.

* Encourage car sharing where operationally practical.

* Review opportunities to introduce lower-emission or electric vehicles as operations develop.

Waste Management

The organisation will:

* Increase recycling of paper, cardboard, plastics and electronic waste.

* Reduce reliance on single-use materials where practical.

* Promote responsible waste disposal practices.

* Review waste reduction opportunities annually.

Sustainable Procurement

Welland & Glen Home Care Limited will:

* Consider environmental impacts during purchasing decisions.

* Work with suppliers that demonstrate environmentally responsible practices.

* Purchase products with reduced environmental impact where practical.

* Reduce unnecessary packaging and resource consumption.

Employee Engagement

Employees play an important role in achieving the organisation’s environmental objectives.

The organisation will:

* Promote environmental awareness across the workforce.

* Encourage energy-saving behaviours.

* Promote sustainable travel options where practical.

* Include environmental considerations within operational procedures.

* Review environmental objectives through regular management meetings.

Governance

Overall responsibility for implementation of this Carbon Reduction Plan rests with the Directors of Welland & Glen Home Care Limited.

The Directors will:

* Review environmental performance annually.

* Monitor progress against carbon reduction objectives.

* Ensure compliance with relevant environmental legislation.

* Allocate appropriate resources to support implementation.

* Review and approve updates to this Carbon Reduction Plan.

Monitoring and Review

Performance against this Carbon Reduction Plan will be reviewed annually.

The annual review will include:

* Updated greenhouse gas emissions data.

* Progress against reduction targets.

* Review of carbon reduction initiatives.

* New objectives where appropriate.

* Opportunities for continual improvement.

Future Commitments

As the organisation develops, Welland & Glen Home Care Limited will continue to:

* Improve greenhouse gas emissions data collection and reporting.

* Strengthen environmental performance monitoring.

* Consider implementation of recognised environmental management systems where appropriate.

* Explore renewable energy opportunities.

Declaration and Sign Off

This Carbon Reduction Plan has been completed in accordance with Procurement Policy Note (PPN) 006 – Taking Account of Carbon Reduction Plans in the Procurement of Major Government Contracts and the associated Technical Standard for the Completion of Carbon Reduction Plans.

Greenhouse gas emissions will be measured, reported and recorded in accordance with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standard, the UK Government Environmental Reporting Guidelines, and the applicable UK Government GHG Conversion Factors for Company Reporting.

This Carbon Reduction Plan has been reviewed and approved by the Board of Directors of Welland & Glen Home Care Limited and represents the organisation’s commitment to achieving Net Zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 through continual improvement and responsible environmental management.
